Singularity - UO Free Shard - Title

Skills - Mining

Published: 2020-05-25, by JarJarIsASith

To harvest ore in Britannia, simply find a cave and use a pickaxe or shovel on the ground. This will allow a player to dig up ore which can then be smelted to ingots for use in crafting items with the Blacksmithy or Tinkering skills.

Note that beyond being a simple gathering profession, mining skill is required for players to unlock the Berserker class which gains damage bonuses to Bardiche and Halberd weapons. Specifics can be found on the Class System Feature page. Once you've found ore, you may smelt it by using it on a Forge or Fire Beetle. If you fail to your mining skill check while attempting to smelt you will lose half of the contents of your ore pile.

The type of ore you mine and smelt is based on your mining skill level:

  1. 0+ Iron Ore
  2. 65+ Dull Copper Ore
  3. 70+ Shadow Iron Ore
  4. 75+ Copper Ore
  5. 80+ Bronze Ore
  6. 85+ Golden Ore
  7. 90+ Agapite Ore
  8. 95+ Verite Ore
  9. 99+ Valorite Ore
A GM Miner, after the proper research, may also extract High Quality Granite and Sand for use by the more experienced crafters. When you have read the High Quality Granite book, you can click on your pickaxe and set it to mine both stone and ore. When you have read the High Quality Sand book, instead of mining only in rock, you can also mine the beaches and deserts of Britannia (or any random sand tiles available to you).

Mining skill in UO Singularity can advance beyond 100.0 all the way up to 120.0 skill level. This differs from standard servers and the benefits of this skill gain are primarily intended for the Berserker class.

Whenever an ore vein refreshes after being harvested from, there is a slight chance it will change resource type. For example, a mountainside that yielded Valorite today might give plain iron tomorrow, and vice versa. Your level of skill does not determine your chance of finding a colored vein, it only determines whether you can extract the colored ore.

A Gargoyle's Pickaxe and/or Prospector's Tool can be used to potentially advance an ore vein's level by up to two types (e.g., Agapite to Valorite).

Training

Method 1 - Mine and smelt ore.

Method 2 - Attack creatures with a bardiche or halberd. This will also require either the Swordsmanship skill or a weapon with the Use Best Weapon Skill property.
